Tanmay Agarwal rewrote the history books. The Hyderabad batter slammed the fastest 300 run knock in first class cricket. The Hyderabadi opener remained unbeaten on 323 at stumps on Day 1 against Arunachal Pradesh. Tanmay Agarwal took just 147 balls to reach the coveted 300 run mark.
Batting with a strike rate of 201, the opener unleashed his fury on the opposition. The southpaw hammered 33 fours and 21 sixes to help Hyderabad post a mammoth total of 529/1 at the end of the day’s play.
Etching his name in the records book, the 28-year-old batter broke Marco Marais’s record. The Proteas batter was the fastest having reached 300 runs in first class cricket in 191 balls. Tanmay with his extraordinary feat also became the 1st Indian batter to slam 300 runs in a single day.
Arunachal Pradesh batted first. However, the North-eastern side was bundled out for 172 runs in less than 40 overs. Techi Doria remained unbeaten on 97 to help his side accumulate whatever they could get.
Then came the onslaught of the hosts. Tanmay Agarwal and skipper Gahlaut Rahul Singh opened proceedings and stitched a 345 run stand. Singh ultimately departed on 185.
But Tanmay Agarwal stole the limelight with his destructive batting. With lot left to play in the coming days, Agarwal will surely look to break a couple of more records.
