The veteran opener, who made his international debut in 2007, decided to call it quits with immediate effect. Notably, Iqbal was leading the Bangladesh side in the ongoing ODI series against Afghanistan.

Tamim could only manage to score 13 runs in his final international appearance, which took place on Wednesday in Chattogram.

This retirement announcement follows Tamim’s decision to retire from T20I cricket last year, marking the conclusion of his participation in the shortest format of the game. Furthermore, he played his final Test match against Ireland in April, officially closing that chapter of his cricketing journey as well.
