Tamim posted a status on his official Facebook page stating that he had retired from international T20s. “Please consider me retired from T20Is from today. Thank you everyone,” Tamim wrote on his official Facebook page in Bangla.
Tamim on January 27 took a six-month break from T20I’s, though he played a domestic T20 tournament during this period. Earlier, Tamim stated that he would clear his position regarding his T20I future before the six-month deadline ended after confusion surrounding it.
Tamim played 78 T20Is and scored 1758 runs at an average of 24.08 and a strike-rate of 117.2 that included one century and seven fifties. Tamim was a regular in the Bangladesh T20I side from 2007 to 2018, having played 75 out of 84 possible games for the side. He remains the only batter with a century for Bangladesh,
