Gujarat Titans opener Sai Sudharsan has revealed that his long term goal is to play Test cricket for India. One of the team’s most consistent batters, the Tamil Nadu star is relishing his role as an opener in the ongoing IPL 2025. Like most young cricketers, Sudharsan’s goal is also to play for India in the longest format of the game.
IPL done, Sudharsan sets Test as next target
In an interview with Times of India, Sudharsan revealed that his dream was to ultimately play Test cricket. The Tamil Nadu batter said that he was currently taking baby steps and focusing on IPL 2025. Sai is targeting a spot in the India A side which will tour England before the five-match Test series.
“Obviously, the dream is to play Test cricket. I think you have to dream really big to achieve what you want to achieve. Right now, I’m taking baby steps and thinking about the IPL, but why not? Definitely, I would love to equip myself to play in those conditions and do my best for the country,” Sudharsan said.
The batter made his ODI debut in 2023 following which he also earned a call-up for T20Is in 2024. Test cricket remains the only unconquered fort for Sudharsan.
He has a prolific record across formats in domestic cricket. His best performance has been in List A cricket where he averages 60.69.

In IPL 2025, he has so far registered scores of 74, 63 and 49. He has played a vital role in providing the perfect start for GT. The batter has outperformed captain Gill on most occasions so far in this season.
