Currently, Mohammad Rizwan is at the top of the T20I rankings with 853 ranking points. While Suryakumar Yadav is in the second spot with 838 ranking points.
On Friday, the Pakistan dasher surpassed Suryakumar Yadav to become the leading run-scorer in T20Is in 2022. Rizwan scored 34 runs against New Zealand in the Tri-Series Final to overtake SKY in the race. But it will be the India vs Pakistan mega clash on October 23 at MCG where the race for the best T20 batter will be settled.

- Suryakumar Yadav – 801 runs in 23 innings
Rizwan crossed the Indian batter’s tally of T20I runs during the tri-series final against New Zealand in Christchurch. It was in the sixth over of the second innings when he crossed the mark of Yadav. It wouldn’t be an overstatement to say that the race between Rizwan and Yadav is getting as intense as possible as both players have been in superb form of late.
While Pakistan’s star player ended the tri-series as the second-highest run-scorer, Yadav was the third-highest run-scorer during the three-match T20I series against South Africa.
Besides, the Mumbai batter has been scoring runs for fun of late. But it won’t be easy for him to snatch that top spot from Rizwan. Pakistan batter has been in stupendous form for quite a while now. In fact, he was the leading run-scorer in the shortest format of the game in 2021 as well. He had scored 1,326 runs in 26 innings and was declared ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year as well.
T20 World Cup: Suryakumar Yadav in red-hot form
Since his debut, SKY has only had a little over 18 months to go, but in that time, he has accomplished countless milestones in his T20I career. The Indian version of Mr. 360 outpaced the popular Australian batting all-rounder Glenn Maxwell to become the fastest player to reach 1000 runs in T20Is after playing in just 34 matches.
With an astounding strike rate of 174.52, the explosive Indian prodigy smashed 1000 T20I runs in just 573 balls. The previous record holder, Maxwell, had 604 balls and a strike rate of 165.56.
Surya is currently unstoppable, whether it is becoming the first batter to record the most sixes in a calendar year, surpassing Pakistan’s famous batsman Mohammad Rizwan, or becoming the first Indian to score the most runs in a calendar year. He has now recorded more than 50 sixes in 2022 in addition to more than 800 runs with an average of around 40.
