T20 World Cup Super 12: India avoids Bangladesh, to meet Scotland on Nov 5th –  Scotland sealed progression into the Super 12 stages of the ICC T20 World Cup after sealing a comprehensive win over hosts Oman on Thursday. The win meant that Kyle Coetzer’s side finished top of Group B, and will join India’s group as one of the two qualifying teams. Bangladesh, who were favourites to make it as the top placed team, finished second and will join Group 1.

Scotland have been one of the top-performing teams in the Qualifying stage and were confirmed as India’s fourth opponent in the Super 12 Stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Scotland remained unbeaten in Group B and finished as table-toppers with six points, to be confirmed as one of the qualifiers in Group 1. India were tipped for a clash against Bangladesh in the Super 12s, but their neighbours finished second and will feature in Group 1 alongside the likes of Australia, England, West Indies and South Africa.

As things stand, Virat Kohli have been handed a relatively easy draw, with Ireland or Namibia likely to be the second qualifier in their group. The team finishing second in Group A will join India, Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan and Scotland in Group 2, with the winner of the Ireland vs Namibia clash likely to be so.

Sri Lanka who are top of Group A, could also finish second, but their impressive net run-rate means that the Lankans are likely to remain top, even if they lose out their final game to the Netherlands. Should that be the case, India will have only two of the top 6 teams in their group in Pakistan and New Zealand.
T20 World Cup Super 12: India has a new entrant in their group, avoids Bangladesh to meet Scotland on Nov 5th
  • India were drawn in Group 2 of the Super 12 stage alongside Pakistan, New Zealand and Afghanistan
  • The Men in Blue will now face Scotland, having avoided a clash against Bangladesh, after the European side finished top of their qualification group.
  • The winner of the Ireland vs Namibia clash is likely to be India’s final qualifier, with the teams in a battle for the second spot in Group A
  • Sri Lanka could also slip down to the second spot, but their superior net run rate makes it a highly unlikely scenario.
  • India have never met Scotland in a T20 fixture, and their outing in the T20 World Cup will be there first ever in the format
