T20 World Cup: BAN vs SL Live: Bangladesh star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan on Sunday surpassed Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi to become the leading wicket-taker in the history of the T20 World Cup. Shakib now has picked up 41 wickets in just 29* matches. Shakib achieved the milestone with his double strike against Sri Lanka in the ninth over. Bangladesh is facing Sri Lanka in their first Round 12 game today in Sharjah. Chasing 172 runs, Sri Lanka faced a double blow in the ninth over as Shakib Al Hasan accounted for the wickets of Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando. Having already equaled Shahid Afridi’s 39 wickets records, Shakib immediately went past the Pakistan all-rounder to become the leading wicket-taker in the T20 WC history since its inception in 2008.

Earlier, the star all-rounder returned with an impressive figure of 4-9 in his four overs against Papua New Guinea and equaled Shahid Afridi’s record of most wickets in T20 World Cup History. Shakib Al Hasan ripped apart Papua New Guinea’s middle order, picking up the wickets of Charles Amini, Sese Bau, Simon Atai, and Hiri Hiri.
