Babar Azam and Co. have all but confirmed their place in the semi-final, with three wins in three games in the Super 12 stage. Following their game against their neighbours, Pakistan celebrated the birthday of batting consultant Matthew Hayden, along with player of the match Asif Ali.

The Pakistan team had a cause to celebrate after their dramatic win over Afghanistan after Asif Ali’s heroics has almost confirmed their place in the T20 World Cup semi-final. Like Carlos Brathwaite five years ago, Asif Ali launched four sixes in an over to clinch the win for Pakistan, maintaining Babar Azam and Co.’s unbeaten record in the T20 World Cup so far.
Following the game, the team celebrated the birthday of batting consultant Matthew Hayden. The Australian legend was appointed in the role before the tournament and has gelled well with the team, with the Men in Green chasing down totals with ease in all their games so far. During the celebrations, Asif Ali was given special treatment, after his match-winning knock against Afghanistan. The rest of the team cheered Matthew Hayden and Ali on as they cut the cake and celebrated the occasion. Watch the video here:

Pakistan are at the top of Group 2 standings, with three wins in as many games in the Super 12. After claiming a historic 10-wicket win over arch-rivals India, the Men in Green claimed wins over New Zealand and Afghanistan, with Asif Ali playing a starring role in both the run chases.
