India vs Pakistan LIVE: 5 big records that can be achieved in blockbuster clash – check out

He said when Misbah-ul-Haq hit in the air, Yuvraj Singh turned his back as he wasn’t sure about the catch. The 33-year-old said that he could clearly see the ball from the covers and elaborated the whole incident. He said Sreesanth took 2-3 steps back to catch it and what followed next was wild celebrations.

“I was standing at the covers that particular ball and Joginder was running and I remember, if I’m not wrong, Yuvi was at the point, the moment Misbah played that shot. I saw Yuvi was turning around because he didn’t want to watch it or he was expecting that he’s going to drop it,” recalled Sharma.

He went on to say that it was the biggest moment for him on the field.

“It was my first World Cup ever and I had no idea the feeling of winning it and especially against Pakistan. It was so big,” he added.

“I was a 20-year-old at that point. And for me to be in the final of the inaugural T20 World Cup was itself a great deal and then to be playing the finals and just going out there, scoring runs and taking catches and taking wickets and seeing all the magic happen on the field was like a dream, it was a great experience to be a part of it,” he further stated.

  • Rohit Sharma is the only player who is part of the 2021 T20 World Cup who had featured against Pakistan in the 2007 T20 WC Final.
  • Over the years, he has established himself as the biggest match-winner with a number of records across all formats.
  • He can become the second-highest run-scorer in T20Is by going past New Zealand’s Martin Guptill on Sunday. He is also expected to complete 3000 runs in T20s in the upcoming T20 World Cup matches.
  • His performance at the top remains key as India aims to recreate history by becoming only second country after West Indies to win a T20 WC title twice, end 14-year-old wait to lay hands of silverware.
  • Rohit Sharma has a dismal record against Pakistan. He has managed just 70 runs across 6 innings at an average of 17.5. His unbeaten 30 against Pakistan in 2007 T20 WC Final remains his best score against the arch-rivals.
