The ICC has gone on to allot an additional of 250 minutes for the second semi finals of the ICC T20 World Cup. As per as the schedules and the group placements, Team India will likely play the semi finals 2. This essentially means, the Indian Cricket Team won’t get a reserve day should the game gets washed off.
Initial reports claimed, that a reserve day has been kept on 29th June for the second semis, a day prior to the finals. As per reports from Cricbuzz, 4 hours have been added to the day to finish the game.
This has been mainly done so that the team doesn’t have to play on back to back days. It will be difficult for the winning team to travel from Trinidad to Barbados amidst all the fatigue in playing on consecutive days.

No Reserve Day for Second Semi finals in T20 WC
There is provision for a reserve day for the first semi finals, but not for the second. In stead 4 hours will be added to the second semi-finals, so that the game can be concluded. The plan for the ICC is to complete the game within the day, so that the winning team gets the next day off for travel before playing the finals.
Now this can be a blessing in disguise for Rohit Sharma and Co. The India Cricket Team are tipped to be one of the favourites of the competition. As per the nature of the schedule, should India progress, they will feature in semi finals 2.
“All four teams have exactly the same opportunity to finish a game. For performance reasons, to ensure teams do not have to ‘play, travel, play’ on consecutive days, the decision was taken to allocate the additional time for the second semi-final immediately post the game because the game is a 10.30 AM start, whilst the first semi-final is an evening start, which means it is not feasible to pay all additional time on the same day. This also ensures that fans in the stadium have the best chance of seeing a result on the day,” a source in the know has told Cricbuzz.
In the worst case if a game cannot be held, then the team that finished higher in the super 8 will be adjudged as the winner of the tie and will progress to the finals.
