T20 World Cup: Nasser Hussain wants Tymal Mills, Eoin Morgan to step up in Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes’ absence, as T20 WC warm-up begins

T20 World Cup – India vs England LIVE Warm Up Match: With England set to play warm-up games against India and New Zealand, former captain Nasser Hussain believes it is the perfect time for Tymal Mills to justify his place in the side. He added that the left-arm pacer’s ability to bowl the death overs will be key considering what transpired in India five years ago.

In his Daily Mail column, Hussain wrote: “England have had to learn to live without Archer in all formats but it’s most keenly felt in T20cricket because he is one of the best in the world, whether it be wicket-taking with the new ball in his bowling at the death or with his economy rate.”

Hussain further heaped praise on Archer and he is effectively two bowlers in one. The cricketer-turned-commentator said that while Morgan has had time to replace the 2019 World Cup star, the team’s death bowling issues remain, despite the presence of Chris Jordan. Thus, the inclusion of Tymal Mills could be key, and England needs him firing in all cylinders.

The former England captain wrote, “That is where Tymal Mills comes in as one of the best death bowlers in world franchise cricket and that makes him a key figure, because even someone with the experience of Chris Jordan hasn’t quite got it right in recent times. It is an aspect of T20cricket England have to master because, as we saw in the last World Cup final five years ago, they can get 90 per cent of their game spot on and then lose it by conceding four sixes in the last over.”

Nasser Hussain further out his weight behind Eoin Morgan, who has struggled for runs in the recently concluded IPL 2021. While the left-hander had meagre returns with the bat, his leadership skills shone to the fore, leading an unfancied KKR to the final. Hussain added that England wouldn’t want anyone else leading the side, but would need Morgan to score runs especially in the absence of Ben Stokes.

the former England skipper wrote, “Morgan’s leadership, as we saw with Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, is as good as ever and in big tournaments, England would not want anybody else in charge. The players hang on his every word. But he has been very short of runs and he will want to put that right against India or New Zealand. England want him to get on another positive streak as soon as possible. That, particularly in the absence of another player of experience in Ben Stokes, would be a very important part of completing the England World Cup jigsaw.”
