T20 World Cup: Oman should make it count: Oman Cricket has been on a meteoric rise in the past few years. From ICC Affiliate membership in 2000 and Associate Membership in 2014, Oman were playing in Division 5 of the ICC World Cricket League as recently as 2016. And now, Oman Cricket Team is playing at their home in the biggest event of the shortest format in the game.

This will be Oman’s second appearance at a T20 World Cup, having played in 2016 already. It was a good start for the ‘Men in Red’ as they won their first match against Ireland. They haven’t looked back since then. Oman Cricket team now has an ODI status and are playing their second World Cup.

The road to here wasn’t that easy as at one stage, in 2019 Qualifiers, they were on the verge of being knocked out. However, they held their nerves against Hong Kong and won the game by 12 runs.

T20 World Cup: Oman needs to be consistent: Even though the team possesses the ability to beat any team on a given day, consistency has been some sort of issue for Oman. Since attaining T20I status in 2015, Oman have lost 19 of their 36 international matches, with the triumph of two wins over Ireland contrasted by a shock home defeat to Qatar in February 2020.
