T20 World Cup – Shastri & Dhoni in animated conversation: Not often do you see MS Dhoni agitated & losing his calm. But after a dismal batting show & overall performance from Team India, even cool Dhoni also lost his calmness. The mentor of Indian team was captured on camera having a animated conversation with coach Ravi Shastri.

While it wasn’t a heated exchange, something was surely off. The looks on faces clearly showed something wasn’t right? Was it some disagreement on the batting order or debate on non-inclsusion of R.Ashiwn in the XI?

Dhoni, Shastri in animated conversation? The look on Dhoni’s face clearly shows that he isn’t happy about something and Shastri was captured explaining something to him.

T20 World Cup: Is all okay between Ravi Shastri, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli? Shastri, Dhoni captured on camera having animated conversation

Is all well between Shastri & Dhoni? Some of the decisions around the selection of the playing XI were nothing less than bizzare & baffling.

Was it Dhoni who batted for half-fit Hardik Pandya? Was it Virat Kohli who once again put his foot down on inclusion of R.Ashwin in XI? Whose decision it was to change the batting order of the team? Why & who suggested Rohit Sharma’s demotion as opener in the White-Ball cricket?

“We could say a lot of things. We wish we could have scored a lot more runs, got a lot more wickets. But now looking at it, that obviously, Ashwin is an experienced bowler. He adds a lot of value to the bowling attack whenever he comes. But it’s very difficult because there’s dew in second innings. When the ball doesn’t grip, the options become very difficult, very rare, and very little for the bowlers and the margin of error goes down,” Jasprit Bumrah said at the post-match press conference.

“Ishan Kishan is a hit-or-miss player and it is better if a batsman like him walks in No 4 or No 5. He could then play according to the situation of the game. Now what has happened is that Rohit Sharma has been told that we don’t trust you to face the left-arm fast bowling of Trent Boult. If you do that to a player who has been playing at a position for so many years, he himself will think that maybe he doesn’t have the ability,” Sunil Gavaskar told India Today.

T20 World Cup: How it all went wrong for Team India against New Zealand –

  • Despite giving what fans wanted picking Shardul Thakur and Ishan Kishan in the Playing XI, the team selection was still off.
  • A half-fit Hardik Pandya was still picked while Ravichandran Ashwin was ignored even though he has fine record against the SENA countries. While his 4 overs might not have won India the match he could have put the Kiwis under pressure.
  • Ishan Kishan replaced as an opener wasn’t a plan everyone had agreed to especially at Rohit Sharma’s expense.
  • Shardul Thakur was picked in place of Bhuvneshwar Kumar but he had an off day too.
  • Rohit Sharma who had just batted thrice at No 3 was demoted to that position and he failed and so did Ishan Kishan.
  • Virat Kohli at No 4 too didn’t fare well.

Who took these decisions will always stay a dressing room secret but what is in open is that too many experiments & too many cooks in the Indian team have spoilt the dish.

T20 World Cup: Is all okay between Ravi Shastri, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli? Will the trio leave their stubbornness and pick Ashwin?

INDIA vs AFGHANISTAN LIVE – Will Ashwin be included? Now, the New Zealand debacle is over. Virat Kohli & Co do not have enough time to assess the losses.

The team management including head coach Ravi Shastri, mentor MS Dhoni and captain Kohli will have to look past their stubbornness and find a place for Ravichandran Ashwin as India’s bowling attack has been below-par especially spin.

In the two matches, India’s World Class bowling attack scalped just two wickets with Jasprit Bumrah bagging both of them.

The likes of Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shardul Thakur have struggled while spinners have collectively failed. Ravichandran Ashwin with his experience and as an excellent reader of the game could be given a go against Afghanistan.
