A former first-class cricketer, Dar has been one of the standout umpires over the years and has been handsomely rewarded for his knack of making the correct decision in a decorated career. Now officiating during the T20 World Cup, the Pakistan-born umpire showcased his skills in the game with a neat cover drive during practice.

In a video shared by ICC and T20 World Cup on their social media handles, Aleem Dar was seen playing a rather silky cover drive ahead of the Sri Lanka vs West Indies match at Abu Dhabi cricket stadium. “He’s got some style,” a commentator is heard saying in the clip. ICc also poked some fun, saying, “What they didn’t tell you is that he was so dangerous with the bat that he HAD to become an official.” The video was an instant hit among the fans, who flooded the comment section of the post. Aleem Dar has set a couple of records by officiating the most ODI and Test matches. Hailing from Jhang in Pakistan, Dar is a member of the Elite Panel of ICC Umpires. He had also played first-class cricket before becoming an umpire. The official has also won the David Shepherd Trophy as the best umpire of the year for three years in a row from 2009 to 2011, after being nominated twice in 2005 and 2006.
