T20 World Cup: Hasan Ali apologies, vows to come back stronger after dropped catch ends Pakistan’s campaign – Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali on Saturday apologised for his dropped catch against Australia in the T20 World Cup semifinal and said that no one else is more disappointed that himself. The right-arm pacer also added that this patch will make him even stronger and he will make a comeback.

In the 19th over of the second semifinal between Australia and Pakistan, Hasan Ali dropped Matthew Wade’s catch off Shahin Afridi’s bowling, which proved costly for the Men in Green as Wade went on to win the game with a hat-trick of sixes in the next three balls.

This ended Pakistan’s fabulous campaign in the tournament. The Babar Azam-led side had entered the semifinal clash with five consecutive wins under its belt.

Hasan Ali took to Twitter to apologize for his mistake and vowed to make a strong comeback from this lean patch of his cricketing career.

“I know you all are upset because my performance didn’t meet your expectations but not more disappointed than me. Don’t change your expectations from me. I want to serve Pakistan cricket at the highest level possible, so back to hard work.

“This patch will make me stronger. Thank you for all the messages, tweets, posts, calls and duas (prayers) – needed them,” Ali tweeted.

Hasan Ali received backing from his teammates as well. Fakhar Zaman came in support of his teammate and called him a ‘fighter’. “You are a champion mere dost. You are a fighter. There are not many players in the world who can match your hard work, grit and determination. Keep the head high. We are all so proud of you,” wrote Fakhar on Twitter.

Ali, a star of Pakistan’s 2017 Champions Trophy campaign, became a national villain following his dropped catch, with the pacer being subjected to a lot of trolling and negativity on social media. He has also been struggling with the ball in hand as of late.
