T20 World Cup: IND vs SCO: Virat Kohli & Co registered a thumping 8 wickets win over Scotland on Friday in the Group 2 match of Super 12 stage of the ongoing ICC men’s T20 World Cup here at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. After bowling out Scotland for a mere total of 85 runs, India needed to chase down the target in 7.1 overs to surpass Afghanistan in NRR. In reply, Virat Kohli & Co. chased down the target in 6.3 overs with KL Rahul hitting the fastest fifty of the tournament off just 18 balls. Ravindra Jadeja and M Shami were the stars with the ball as they returned with 3 wickets each in the victory.

India opener KL Rahul on Friday became the fourth batsmen to hit the fastest fifties in T20 World Cups ever since the inaugural season in 2007. He achieved the feat in just 18 balls, including 6 fours and 3 sixes.

82/2 against Scotland on Friday is now India’s highest powerplay totals in T20Is. The previous best was 78/2 vs South Africa in 2018 when Shikhar Dhawan slammed unbeaten 30 off 13 while Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina scored 21 off 9 and 15 off 7 respectively.

Jasprit Bumrah overtakes YS Chahal: India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah on Friday overtook Yuzvendra Chahal to become India’s leading wicket-taker in the shortest format of the game. He accounted for two wickets against Scotland and has now picked up 64 wickets in 54 T20I innings. Earlier, Yuzvendra Chahal was the leading wicket-taker for India in T20Is with 63 wickets in 49 innings

The Men in Blue are now sitting third in Group 2 behind table topper Pakistan and second-place New Zealand. Virat Kohli & Co. will be keeping a close eye on the clash between Afghanistan & New Zealand for a clear idea of their journey to the semi-finals. India will play their final Super 12 round fixture on November 08 against Namibia in Dubai.
