T20 World Cup: Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal & Ravi Bishnoi in 3-way race for 1 spot

Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi and Yuzvendra Chahal engaged in 3-way fight for solitary spot in Team India squad for ICC T20 World Cup

The race to the ICC T20 World Cup is gearing up. Players are fighting for every spot. And among that is the spot for the second spinner in the team. The lone spot has seeing a 3-way fight between Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel. With Kuldeep Yadav already in the team, it remains to be seen as to who partners him.

Kuldeep’s old spin partner Yuzvendra Chahal has rocked IPL 2024 with some majestic performances. Chahal tops the race for the Purple cap with 12 wickets under his belt. Axar Patel too has put in some good performances both the bat and the ball. Former World number 1 T20I bowler Ravi Bishnoi is also a strong contender to fight for his spot in the team.

Yuzvendra Chahal tops charts

The ace spinner has been snubbed from Team India for quite a long time. He last featured for the Men in Blue back in the India tour of West Indies. Following which he was dropped from the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup squad. Determined to prove his worth, Chahal has rocked IPL 2024.

The Rajasthan Royals player has gone on to scalp 12 wickets from 7 games in IPL 2024. The closest spinner to him is Sunil Narine, 13th on the list with 7 wickets. Chahal is at the top spot fighting for his place in the team. Should he be selected, fans would be delighted to witness the magic paring of Kul-Cha back again.

Axar & Bishnoi far behind

Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi are also fighting for their spot in Team India. The Delhi Capitals all-rounder has bagged 5 wickets from 7 games, while LSG’s Bishnoi has scalped 4 wickets from 6 games.

Axar Patel has a slight overhand with his batting skills. Out of the trio he is the only player who can bat and can hit some big shots. Moreover, with no other batters after Jadeja, India will look for someone to bat at number 8 else it will be a long tailender list for the Men in Blue.
