T20 World CUP AWARDS: England won the T20 World Cup 2022 with a stunning victory over Pakistan on Sunday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. While bowling first, English bowlers kept up their strong recent form by limiting Pakistan to 137/8. Then, star all-rounder Ben Stokes hammered 52 runs off 49 balls to lead England to a five-wicket victory with six balls remaining. After defeating Australia in the 2010 T20 World Cup final in the West Indies for the illustrious trophy, England have now won the tournament twice. Highest run-scorer: Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli will be able to smile despite India’s unexpected loss in the semifinal as he finished the T20 World Cup 2022 with the most runs scored. To conclude the tournament with 296 runs from six innings at an average of 98.66 and a strike rate of 136.40, Kohli added four half-centuries, including one against England in the semi-final match. Kohli opened their World Cup campaign with an unbeaten 82 against Pakistan.

Highest wicket-taker: Wanindu Hasaranga
Wanindu Hasaranga won the competition with the most wickets. Despite Sri Lanka’s troubles throughout the competition, the current world’s best T20I bowler grabbed 15 wickets from eight innings at an economy rate of 6.41. Notably, Hasaranga also had the most wickets (16) in the tournament’s last edition in 2021.

Man of the Tournament: Sam Curran
With three more wickets in the final against Pakistan, the English pacer kept up his scorching performance in the competition. Curran was named player of the match with three wickets taken and only 12 runs allowed during his four-over spell. Along with winning player of the tournament honors, he ended the tournament as England’s top wicket-taker with 13 dismissals from just six innings and an outstanding economy rate of 6.52.
