T20 World Cup: Virat Kohli is gradually coming back to his best in international cricket. After shining in Asia Cup, he scored an important half century in third T20 against Australia. These are good signs for Team India with the T20 World Cup set to start next month in Australia. Former Australia batter Brad Hoge has kept a close eye on Kohli’s form. He believes that he has got his mojo back. Follow InsideSport with live updates for T20 WC.

In the Asia Cup, he top-scored for India and scored a ton as well. However, he only managed one half-century in the Australia series, but his innings proved to be important.

The right-hander has bought in the idea of playing some aggressive cricket under Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid. Under the new template, India batters go hard right from the word go. Rohit, as an opener, is the architect of the move. After his flowing start, rest of the players in the middle order just follows suit.

“It looks like he has hit his straps right now. He has, for sure, got his mojo back. He is striking the ball in the middle of the bat. He played really intelligent innings, got better of Zampa. Very well-rounded innings from Kohli,” Hodge said in a EspnCricinfo video.

Now, the India batter will have his focus on the India vs South Africa series. The three-match T20 series starts from Wednesday. It will be India’s last official assignment before they fly to Australia after this series. After they reach Australia, India will play some warm up matches before the Pakistan game on October 23.

Hence this South Africa series assumes significance. Kohli will look to contribute with some good scores under his belt. If he manages to do so, the former captain will go into the T20 World even more confident.
