Axar Patel in the IPL 2021: The Delhi Capitals left-arm spinner has picked up 12 wickets in the ongoing season so far and looks to have stamped his authority to feature in India’s T20 WC playing ahead of the experienced R Ashwin.

Both the spinners in UAE leg so far –

Opposition R Ashwin Axar Patel
vs SRH 0-22 2-21
vs RR 1-20 1-27
vs KKR 1-24 0-13
vs MI 0-28 (3 overs) 3-21

While Ravichandran Ashwin has struggled to pick wickets on the slow turfs of UAE, Axar Patel seems to have mastered the art of reading the pitch conditions more precisely than the experienced off-spinner.

India in T20 WC 2021: It is abundantly clear that the pitches in the UAE will be quite slow, especially after they take on the workload of 31 IPL matches. India is heading into the mega event with two spin-bowling all-rounders along with three specialist spinners – R Jadeja, R Ashwin, A Patel, V Chakravarthy, and R Chahar. Looking at the current form of all the five spin options, Axar Patel seems to be already ahead of all of them in reading UAE pitches and delivering accordingly.
