Adam Zampa returned a career-best five-wicket haul on Thursday as Australia clinched a massive eight-wicket win over Bangladesh in Dubai. The leg-spinner maintained a splendid line and length throughout to trouble the batters, who found it difficult to read him as he ran through the batting order. Bangladesh had already lost four wickets when Zampa struck his first, and he ensured that there would be no rescue act as the Asian outfit were bundled out for just 73.

Adam Zampa had Afif Hossain caught at slip before Matthew Wade took a stunning catch to dismiss a dangerous-looking Shamim Hossain. Mahedi Hasan did not trouble the scorers and was trapped in front of the very next delivery. Zampa had the chance for a hat-trick but Wade dropped Taskin Ahmed to deprive him of the opportunity. The leg-spinner then ran through the tail to pick up a fine five-wicket haul, his best figures in international T20 cricket.

Zampa’s figures were the best of this T20 World Cup and the fifth-best overall in the history of the competition. His spell is also the best figures by an Australian in T20 World Cup.
