T20 World Cup 2024 preparation in full flow as India women whitewash hosts Bangladesh 5-0

Following the 5-0 drubbing of Bangladesh, the Indian women's side will compete in the Asia Cup in July before the ultimate T20 World Cup in September-October

The Indian women’s cricket team has gotten their preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup off to a fantastic start. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side comprehensively defeated Bangladesh 5-0 in a five-match T20I series held in Sylhet, Bangladesh, the very location where the World Cup will be played in September and October.

Harmanpreet Kaur’s team displayed dominance throughout the series, culminating in a series-clinching victory on Thursday, May 9th. Batting first, India posted a competitive total of 156 runs, the highest score of the series. The bowling attack, led by Radha Yadav’s three-wicket haul, then effectively restricted Bangladesh, securing a comfortable victory by 21 runs.

Conditions weren’t conducive for batting in Sylhet as batters needed to toil hard for runs. However, the top-three highest-run-getters from the series were all Indians. Smriti Mandhana, fresh of leading RCB to their superb WPL 2024 win, led the charts. She made 116 runs at an average of 29.00. Dayalan Hemalatha was mightily impressive as well as she struck 109 runs at an amazing rate of 141.55. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur also led from the front as she hammered 105 runs at a healthy average and strike rate of 35.00 and 128.04.
