T20 World Cup 2024 five months away, fans-BCCI-broadcaster still clueless about India captain

BCCI still clueless on who will lead India Cricket Team for upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024

The 2024 T20 World Cup is just 5 months away. But not only is the BCCI but also the fans and the broadcasters are still clueless about who will captain the Indian Cricket Team. Star Sports, the official broadcaster released a poster featuring Hardik Pandya, but as per recent reports, Rohit Sharma is set to the lead Team India in the mega tournament.

The captain crisis in the shortest format of the game still continues. While Rohit Sharma continues to be the captain in ODIs and Test, Hardik Pandya has led the T20 squad for the last 14 months.

Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli last played T20s in the T20 World Cup and hasn’t featured since. Hardik Pandya has been leading a young for the past year. But with the T20 World Cup fast approaching and Rohit Sharma’s incredible form in the ODI World Cup, reports claim that both he and Kohli will be a part of the India squad.

Furthermore, Rohit is supposed to lead the squad as per reports and have been backed by many former cricketers and pundits. When the T20 World Cup squad was released, Star Sports posted a banner featuring Hardik Pandya.

Now this poster has raised a lot of concerns. Currently Hardik is injured and won’t be available for the IND vs AFG T20I series. In his place a returning Rohit Sharma is the frontrunner to lead the squad.

It remains to be seen as to who gets to lead the Men in Blue for the upcoming mega 2024 T20 World Cup.
