The wicketkeeper-batter was seen giving special batting tips to competitor Rishabh Pant before IND vs AUS warm-up match. Pant, who is woefully out of form is keen to get back to run-scoring ways. A video went viral of India’s training session in Brisbane, where Karthik was seen shadow practicing and explaining to Pant. The southpaw was all ears and soaking in all the tips Karthik gave. T20 World Cup 2022: Pant and Karthik are competing for the same spot – It is to be noted that Karthik and Pant are competing for the same spot – the wicketkeeper role. Karthik though has slightly edged his competitor as he has finished the matches well for India. Both players though had a dismal outing in the two warm-up matches against Western Australia. Karthik, as well as Pant, failed to cross 30. In a bid to do well against Australia in the warm-up match Karthik went a notch ahead and did a bit by giving Pant a few batting tips.

As things stand, Rishabh Pant doesn’t feature in the plans. With dwindling performance in T20s, he has not done any favor. With India handing over the big gloves to Dinesh Karthik despite Pant being in the line-up, the message is clear the team management has already lost confidence in the youngster. Hence, barring any late injuries, it’s unlikely that Rishabh Pant will be in India’s Playing XI for the India vs Pakistan match on October 23.
