T20 WC Semifinals: HALESTORM at Adelaide blows India away in BIG semifinal, Alex Hales-Jos Buttler RECORD 170-partnership gives Rohit Sharma DEJA-VU of Babar-Rizwan in Dubai, Check OUT
Jos Buttler and Alex Hales sealed a record chase to put England into the T20 World Cup as India crashed out at Adelaide on Thursday. The England openers put on an unbeaten 170-run partnership to seal a 10-wicket win, giving nothing away to the Indian bowling attack.
Highest partnerships in T20 World Cups:
- 170*J Buttler – A Hales Adelaide 2022
- 168 Q de Kock – R Rossouw v Ban 2022
- 166 M Jayawardene – K Sangakkara v WI 2010
- 152*Babar Azam – Mohd Rizwan v Ind 2021
The Buttler-Hales partnership is the highest in T20 World Cup history, going past the 168 set by Quinton de Kock and Rilee Rossouw earlier this year. It is also the highest target chased down in the T20 WC history without losing a wicket and the third-highest overall.
The Buttler Hales show resembled the carnage Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam inflicted on the Indian bowling line up one year ago in the T20 World Cup. Playing in Dubai, the Pakistan openers had chased down India’s total of 151 with an unbeaten opening stand, which ultimately led to India’s exit from the tournament.
