“Virat has experienced insane success over the period of time. Now he will get a good break and will come back all recharged and hopefully will do phenomenally well. You can never rule out a player of his calibre,” Dinesh Karthik said at the PS Sports Excellence Arena here on Monday.

  • Virat has been struggling for form in recent times and has been rested for the West Indies tour
  • It has also been more than two years since Virat last scored an international century
  • Amid growing calls to drop him from Team India, many former players have backed Virat to return to form after taking a timeout.

“It is never easy, but I have worked hard for it. Also, given the bench strength that we have today, the competition is always going to be a part of it. This is the beauty of Indian cricket,” Karthik added.

Deadline for Virat

But despite his proven calibre, the clock is ticking on Virat Kohli, especially in T20s. The selectors and the BCCI have set T20 World Cup 2022 as the deadline for Kohli to get his form back or he will be dropped from the squad for the Australia series in November. The former Indian captain is on a month-long break from cricket and skip the West Indies tour altogether.

  • Recently Virat has endured a tough time in all form s of the game along with the Indian Premier League (IPL).
  • Virat managed to score to score only two fifties in the IPL, highlighting his low confidence.
  • Looking into numbers Virat has now gone more than 960 days without and international hunred and is set to cross the 1000-day mark in coming days.
