In fact, the semifinal contest has all been about South Zone. Right from Day 1, they have been absolutely fantastic on the field. The fourth and final day of the competition looked no different. When Day 4 started, it was almost a given that South had reached the final with their first innings lead. It was a matter of pride of North in the last day, and they did not disappoint. They removed Mayank Agarwal and B Indrajith quite early.

But then, as it has been the case for South this match, some batter or the other has raised his hand high to shoulder responsibility. On Sunday, it was the turn of Ravi Teja, who looked in some good form with the bat.

The wicket-keeper dealt in boundaries in his innings. As Teja stayed more on the crease, a hundred loomed large. He completed his ton, and South also decided to declare at 316/4. It meant North had an improbable target of an improbable 700 plus target.

When South Zone bowlers had the ball in their hand, they looked dangerous. They just used three spinners and it proved more than enough. Krishnappa Gowtham, who opened the bowling for South Zone scalped three wickets. Hero of the first innings Sai Kishore also delivered once again, taking three wickets.

The same trend of spin domination continued when Tanay Thyagarajan walked into bowl. He also scalped three wickets. As for Yash Dhull, no one really even came close being comfortable against the South spinners. The batter managed to hit 58-ball 59, comprising seven fours and one six. Mann Vohra was the only other batter to score in double figure as 11 runs. From 64/1, they were bundled out for 94 runs, which is embarrassing irrespective of the bowlers they were facing.
