Left-arm India seamer Jaydev Unadkat is set to rejoin Sussex for the remaining five matches of their 2024 County Championship season. Unadkat will be representing Sunrisers Hyderabad in the upcoming IPL 2024 after the franchise secured his services for ₹1.60 crores in the mini IPL auction..
Unadkat, who last played for India in a Test match against West Indies in Trinidad in July last year, previously joined Sussex towards the end of their first-class season. During this stint, he participated in three out of the final four County Championship games, claiming 11 wickets at an average of 24.18. His contributions played a key role in Sussex securing a third-place finish in Division Two.
Unadkat’s standout performance occurred during his home debut at Hove against Leicestershire. Despite battling an ankle injury, he delivered an impressive performance, taking 6 wickets for 94 runs in the second innings. This stellar display helped Sussex secure their third win of the campaign, edging out their opponents by just 15 runs.

Previously associated with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the last season, the left-arm pacer had limited opportunities, featuring in only three games. Unfortunately, he remained wicketless in all three outings and struggled with an economy rate exceeding 11.
This move to SRH marks Unadkat’s eighth franchise in his IPL career and his third in as many years, following brief stints with the Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants in 2022 and 2023, respectively. Throughout his 14-year IPL journey, Unadkat has participated in 94 matches, securing 92 wickets. Notably, he enjoyed a fruitful season in 2017, claiming 24 wickets.
