IND vs AUS: Handed a golden opportunity in Mumbai, Suryakumar Yadav responded with a golden duck as his lean patch in the 50-over format continued. While Surya has set the world on fire in T20Is, he hasn’t been able to replicate the same in ODIs. Coach Rahul Dravid has put immense faith in the 32-year-old to deliver, but an average of 27 after 2q1 games raises big questions. Follow India vs Australia LIVE Updates on Insidesport.IN
Suryakumar Yadav last 5 ODI innings
- 6 vs NewZealand at Christchurch
- 4 vs SriLanka at Trivandrum
- 31 vs NewZealand at Hyderabad
- 14 vs NewZealand at Indore
- 0 vs Australia at Wankhede
Suryakumar Yadav returned to his home ground but lasted only a solitary delivery. Coming into bat after the wicket of Virat Kohli, the 32-year-old was plumb in front after Mitchell Starc bowled a peach to trap him in front. It was his first duck in ODI cricket and continued his lean patch in the format.

Since a career-best 64 at Ahmedabad vs West Indies back in February 2022, Suryakumar Yadav has batted 13 times in ODIs failing to get to 50. Only twice has Surya scored above 30 in the time frame, with a best score of 34 not out. More than 50 % of his innings in the last one year have been single-digit scores. His overall numbers stand at 433 runs in 21 games at a woeful average of 27.06. For context, Sanju Samson, who is unavailable for selection averages 66 in ODIs.
In contrast, Surya averages a mindboggling 46.52 in T20Is. He has a 50+ score in every three innings in the shortest format for India and has 3 centuries already under his belt. In ODIs, Surya has only managed two fifties in 21 games so far.
