World Number 1 T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav has undergone his sports hernia surgery in Munich. SKY has been injured after sustaining an ankle injury in the IND vs SA 3rd T20I. While recovering at the NCA, it was found that the start batter has a sports hernia which needs surgery. As a result SKY has travelled to Germany the other day and went under the knife for a successful surgery.
SKY is expected to be back in India within a week. However, his recovery is set to take to take a long time. On the other hand, SKY recently underwent an ankle surgery too. Naturally, it is expected that his return will take a bit of longer time than expected.
Last year, KL Rahul underwent a similar surgery. He took around 8-9 weeks to recover for IPL 2023. For SKY’s case the dynamics are different. The BCCI decided that this was the perfect to get the surgery done. While SKY will domestic Ranji Trophy season, he is likely to be ready for the start of IPL 2024.
Even if that is not the case, he might at max miss the initial phase of IPL 2024. But in the grand scheme of things, SKY is an important player for Team in ICC T20 World Cup 2024. As a result, it of utmost importance that the star player gets fit before the start of the mega tournament.
