Suryakumar Yadav to play under captain Sarfaraz Khan for Mumbai in Buchi Babu tournament

Suryakumar Yadav has made himself available to play one game for Mumbai in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament

India cricket team T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav is all set to to play one game in the upcoming Buchi Babu tournament. Young Sarfaraz Khan has been named as Mumbai’s captain for the tournament and will lead the side comprising of SKY and co. The tournament is likely to see the participation of more senior players, given that there is nearly a month-long international break.

Suryakumar Yadav to play more domestic cricket

As per PTI, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) confirmed that SKY would play Mumbai’s second match in the tournament, which is against Chennai. The matches in the tournament would be played between August 27-30.

A MCA official told PTI that Surya intends to play all three formats of the game and will make himself available to play for Mumbai whenever he is free.

“He will play tourneys like Buchi Babu, KSCA apart from Ranji Trophy where his presence will also motivate the youngsters in the team,” a MCA source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

Sarfaraz Khan to lead Mumbai

The MCA announced the 17-member squad sans Ranahe, vice captain Shams Mulani for the tournament led by Sarfaraz Khan. Alongside Sarfaraz, his younger brother Musheer Khan, who made waves with his performance in the U-19 World Cup, has also been named a part of the side.

While Ajinkya Rahane is currently busy with his County cricket commitments, his deputy during the Ranji Trophy 2023-24 – Shams Mulani – is at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
