SuryaKumar Yadav to captain, not Jasprit Bumrah in India vs Ireland series

The Men in Blue will travel to Ireland for a three-match T20I series from August 18 to August 23, followed by the Asia Cup 2023 on August 30.

World No 1 batter SuryaKumar Yadav is all set to lead Team India during their Ireland tour for the three-match T20 series. It was previously reported by many media outlets that Jasprit Bumrah who will be making a comeback through India vs Ireland (IND vs IRE) series will captain the Men in Blue in the absence of Hardik Pandya.

With India’s T20 skipper Hardik Pandya likely to be rested for the three-match series against Ireland beginning August 18, Suryakumar Yadav, India’s vice-captain in the shortest format, could be asked to captain the side.

Suryakumar Yadav in spotlight for IND vs IRE series

Unlike other times, the 2023 India vs Ireland T20 series is expected to be in a lot of spotlights for various reasons. First of all IND vs IRE series will be a useful preparation for Indian players who will compete in the Asian Games 2023 in China.

Hardik Pandya, and Shubman Gill are not expected to play in Ireland’s T20I series. The reasoning for this is to reduce workload because the team will be playing a lot of cricket in the coming months. Nothing, however, has been finalised.

Because there is travel required and only a three-day turnaround before flying from Florida to Dublin, BCCI is hence expected to field the second-string side that will also compete in the Asian Games 2023. This series will also serve as a fantastic preparation for the players who will compete in the Asian Games in 2023.

Ruturaj Gaikwad leads the second-string Men’s squad for the Asian Games 2023. The men’s matches will be held between September 28 and October 7.

SuryaKumar Yadav who has already gained a cult status in T20 world will lead India.

The other reason this series is special is because of the return of express pacer Jasprit Bumrah in the Indian Team.

The Men in Blue will travel to Ireland for a three-match T20I series from August 18 to August 23, followed by the Asia Cup 2023 on August 30.
