The No. 1 T20I batter in the world, Suryakumar Yadav, is raring to return to the field. After suffering an ankle injury in December last year during the India tour of South Africa, the 360-degree batter is aiming to get to his best.
To get fit for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, Surya has returned to the Nation Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Having been ruled out for two months at least, Surya missed three ODIs against South Africa in December and three T20Is against Afghanistan in January.
While not in the reckoning for the Test series against England, Suryakumar Yadav also missed the Ranji Trophy 2024, where his team, Mumbai, is one of the favorites to lift the title.
With uncertainty looming over his return, questions about his participation in the IPL and even the 2024 T20 World Cup were being raised. However, his hitting the gym and trying to get back to his best under VVS Laxman at the NCA bodes well for the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the India cricket team.
