Suryakumar Yadav’s road to recovery over the past three months wasn’t just about physical healing – it was a period of transformation. At the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Yadav tackled not one, but three injuries: a sports hernia, an ankle issue, and right knee pain.
“The last few months have been a challenge, but definitely rewarding,” Yadav shared with the IPL website. While the initial stages felt repetitive and monotonous, a turning point came for Yadav. He recognized the rehab process as an opportunity for growth, both as a cricketer and an individual.

How did Suryakumar Yadav go about his rehabilitation?
Suryakumar’s ankle injury from the South Africa tour in December turned out to be more serious. In January, doctors discovered a sports hernia that required surgery. Since then, he’s been recovering for the past three months with specialists at the NCA in Bengaluru.
Yadav’s rehabilitation wasn’t just about physiotherapy exercises. He meticulously followed a regimented schedule, ensuring proper rest and a healthy diet. He even embraced new habits, like reading, something he hadn’t done before.
“When I spoke to my wife, all the people at NCA, they said it has to be the second version of yourself,” Suryakumar explained. “You have to be a little different when you come back on the field. I started doing small things, like sleeping on time, following a good diet.“
Suryakumar will take field vs RCB on Thursday
Suryakumar Yadav much-awaited return to competitive cricket didn’t go well. The star Mumbai Indians batter got a two-ball duck against the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Wankhede Stadium.
However, given his stellar white-ball record, it is only matter of time for Suryakumar to come good for MI. His franchise are set to host rivals Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Match 25 of IPL 2024 at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, April 11.
