Suryakumar Yadav hits nets as IPL practice begins for Mumbai Indians superstar

While Yadav's return is a welcome boost, MI will enter the 2024 IPL season under new leadership.

Mumbai Indians (MI) fans can breathe a sigh of relief as star batsman Suryakumar Yadav has begun training in the nets, raising hopes for his participation in the upcoming IPL 2024 season.

Suryakumar Yadav: Injury setback and recovery

Suryakumar Yadav, a key player in MI’s batting line-up, missed the recent T20I series against South Africa and the ongoing series against Afghanistan due to an ankle injury he sustained while fielding in the final T20I against South Africa. He also underwent successful groin surgery in Germany last month.

However, the 33-year-old batsman is determined to return to form and has begun his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He recently shared a video on his Instagram story, showcasing his return to batting practice in the nets, a positive sign for MI fans eagerly awaiting his return.

Mumbai Indians new era dawns

While Yadav’s return is a welcome boost, MI will enter the 2024 season under new leadership. The franchise opted to move on from their highly successful captain, Rohit Sharma, and appointed Hardik Pandya, acquired in a trade with Gujarat Titans (GT) last year, as the new captain.

Focus on IPL 2024

With the IPL 2024 season kicking off on March 24, MI will open their campaign against GT. Yadav’s return to form and his potential inclusion in the playing XI will be crucial for their title aspirations. His experience and explosive batting style will be vital assets for the Mumbai Indians as they look to reclaim the IPL trophy under their new leadership.
