It has been a bit gloomy for Suryakumar Yadav (SKY) after his lukewarm ODI World Cup stint. Though he has been entrusted with the duty to lead the Men in Blue for the IND vs AUS T20I series, that is not the end of it. Furthermore, SKY has been chosen as the skipper of the India team for the IND vs SA T20I series, but the World Number 1 T20I batter has been dropped from the IND vs SA ODI series.
It is safe to say that Suryakumar Yadav didn’t have a poor World Cup, but it was not great, so to say. He did play quite a few handy innings but that is not enough for the ODI squad. Critics blamed SKY for a rather lackluster knock in the IND vs AUS World Cup Finals where fans wanted SKY to go all guns blazing to help India post a decent total on the board.
With the India Cricket Team’s focus now turning to the shortest format of the game (T20 World Cup fast approaching), SKY has a big role to play. He has been good in the ongoing IND vs AUS T20I series and will look to seal the series with another win.
As for the ODIs, SKY’s stacks have taken a back seat. Players like Sai Sudarshan, Rajat Patidar, and Rinku Singh have got their chance to play in the 50-ver game while the main job for SKY will be focusing in T20s and the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup.
