Superb news for PBKS! RCB reject Glenn Maxwell fires back to form before IPL 2025

Punjab Kings (PBKS) fans, here’s a superb news for you! A high-profile signing has returned to form. Yes, we are talking about Glenn Maxwell, who wasn’t retained by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) due to his sluggish form. Maxwell wasn’t scoring enough runs in recent times as well but hit a fabulous fifty in the recent Big Bash League (BBL) match for the Melbourne Stars. He hit a superb 58 not out off 32 balls against the three-time BBL winners Sydney Sixers on Thursday.

The Melbourne Stars squad was bolstered by the return of Beau Webster, who had a superb BGT Test against India. Alongside him, Maxwell put together a great stand. The duo put up 88 runs off 54 balls, taking MLS to a respectable 156/5. The two bossed the power surge to squeeze 33 runs.

Maxwell made 73 runs off his last 5 BBL innings. He wasn’t looking on song ever since coming after his injury. Prior to that, Maxwell scored 16 runs at an average of 5.33 and at a strike rate of 66.67. But now, he fired way five boundaries and 3 sixes and operated at a strike rate of 181.25. Maxwell was signed for just Rs 4.20 crore by PBKS at the IPL 2025 mega auction.
