Rahmanullah Gurbaz
Rahmanullah Gurbaz is another trusted player in the KKR camp. In IPL 2023, he played 11 matches as an opener, scoring 207 runs at a strike rate of 133.5. However, his opportunities were limited in IPL 2024, where he played just two matches, scoring 62 runs. Gurbaz’s overall T20 career is impressive, with 2,727 runs in 116 innings at a strike rate of 152.3. These numbers make him a strong contender for the opening slot if the team decides to rely on his aggressive style.
Ajinkya Rahane to open?
There are speculations that Ajinkya Rahane might find a place in the playing XI, possibly as an opener. Rahane had an exceptional domestic season for Mumbai, scoring 432 runs at a strike rate of 169.41. While his T20 credentials are not typically aligned with the opener’s role, his leadership experience and consistency could make him a valuable asset. However, Rahane is more likely to bat at No. 3, as his past performances as an opener for Mumbai haven’t been particularly impressive, with just 69 runs in five innings.
