Sunil Gavaskar grills Sarfaraz Khan after ‘lucky’ save in India-England 4th Test

Sarfaraz Khan grilled by Sunil Gavaskar. Know Why?
You don't expect that from someone who has played Ranji for Mumbai," said Sunil Gavaskar on Sarfaraz Khan.

Sarfaraz Khan had a lucky escape in India-England 4th Test match. The right-handed batter was involved in a close run-out call but managed to get just back in time after making a full-stretched dive. Despite his valiant effort, veteran Sunil Gavaskar was not impressed with the diving technique used by Sarfaraz Khan in India-England 4th Test.

“It is surprising that he dived with the outside of the bat, the curve makes the bat be on air. You don’t expect that from someone who has played Ranji for Mumbai. You dive with the inside of the bat, you are in. He is very lucky not be run out,” said Sunil Gavaskar.

Speaking more about the incident, Sarfaraz tucked a delivery to leg-side. After coming down the pitch to take a single, Sarfaraz was denied the run by his partner Yashasvi Jaiswal on the other end. As a result, Sarfaraz had to do a full-stretched dive in order to save himself.

However, Sarfaraz could not do much with the bat as he was scalped for just 14 runs by spinner Tom Hartley. In India-England Tests, Sarfaraz Khan has had a good outing so far but he needs to make his opportunities count in order to cement his place in the playing XI.
