There is hardly any doubt that Kiwi all-rounder Glenn Phillips is the best fielder in the world. He has come up with catches and run-outs that leave players speechless. But then, while fielding for GT vs SRH on Sunday, he suffered a freak injury while trying to give it his best in the fielding department.
Best Fielder Glenn Phillips Suffers Groin Injury
The incident happened in the sixth over, when Ishan Kishan played a shot off Prasidh Krishna, and Phillips came charging in. As soon as he threw the ball, he fell on the ground, and in much pain. In all that, he seemed to injure his groin.
Even though Glenn Phillips wasn’t used by GT in IPL 2025 as yet, but his value as an all-round player cannot be ignored. In 83 T20Is, he has scored 1929 runs, at an average of 31, and a strike-rate of 140. To with that, he has also picked up six wickets, but at a modest economy rate of 7.35 only.
Could be Out of IPL 2025
The Kiwi player has a long list of fielding efforts, that had been the talk of the town. More recently, his catch of Virat Kohli in the Champions Trophy match had even left the batter, bewildered. He had jumped to his right, to take a blinder of a catch. As far as the SRH vs GT match is concerned, the visiting side bowled well to reduce the opposition to 89/3 in 13 overs.
On a slow wicket, their bowlers hit the right lengths to trouble the likes of Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Travis Head. The trio were out for 18, 17 and 8, respectively.
