In the latest update of the ICC Test rankings, India’s run machine Virat Kohli has dropped out of the top 10 and is now ranked No. 12. This updated ranking came after the first Test between India and Bangladesh, where Kohli managed just 23 runs across two innings. The chase master first fell out of the top 10 in July 2022, after the India vs England series, when he was seeing a run drought. He remained outside the top 10 for almost eighteen months, until India’s tour of the West Indies in 2023.
However, after his valuable contributions in the first two games of the South Africa series earlier this year, he climbed back to 7th place. Unfortunately, with his twin failures in the recent home Test, losing 5 points, he has now slipped to the 12th spot. Also, Indian captain Rohit Sharma experienced a dip in ranking. After a poor outing against Bangladesh, he slipped to the 10th spot, dropping five places.

Yashasvi Jaiswal & Rishabh Pant at the top
Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has made a re-entry into the top 10 among batters, while Yashasvi Jaiswal has moved further upwards to the top for India in the ICC Test Rankings. Pant, who made his Test return after a horrific accident, is now ranked sixth after scoring a century in the second innings in Chennai. On the other hand, stylish left-handed batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has found a spot at No. 5, just above Pant.
