India fast bowler Mohammed Shami was ruled out of the IPL 2024, and the T20 World Cup as well, after he suffered an ankle injury and underwent a surgery as well recently. On Tuesday, the BCCI also confirmed the same in a release, that read, “He is currently being monitored by the BCCI medical team and is ruled out of the upcoming TATA IPL 2024.”
While his services will be missed by the Gujarat Titans and Team India in the next few months, he looks like, getting back on track surely. On Wednesday, he provided the latest update on his ankle. In an Instagram post, he wrote, Hello everyone! I wanted to provide an update on my recovery progress. It has been 15 days since my surgery, and I recently had my stitches removed. I am thankful for the advancements I have achieved and looking forward to the next stage of my healing journey.”
Shami was last seen in action during the World Cup 2023 final against Australia, that India lost. In fact, he had picked up the injury during the semi-final clash against New Zealand, but went on to play the summit clash in pain, and after taking multiple injections.
Eventually, in the tournament, he picked up 24 wickets, and ended the tournament as the highest wicket-taker.
