Talk about making a statement. He let his bat do the talking. And then in the post match ceremony he spoke about himself. There have been many reports that Virat Kohli is not good enough in T20s. But the man, King Kohli played a match winning innings to shit his haters in style.
“I know my name is now attached to just promoting the game in different parts of the world when it comes to T20 cricket. I’ve still got it I guess,” said Virat Kohli after the RCB vs PBKS clash. He shut his haters and doubters in style with a sensational match winning knock.
Off late Virat Kohli has been making the headlines. He missed out the IND vs ENG Test series owing to the birth of his second child. There were certain doubts regarding his participation in IPL 2024. Reports further emerged that Kohli was not in contention to make the Indian team for the ICC T20 World Cup.
But the King decided to let his bat do the talking rather than his mouth. RCB was in dire need of a win after their opening match loss to CSK. Tasked to chase 176, Kohli took it on his shoulders to carry the team. It was his splendid knock that helped his side snatch a thrilling victory.
“People talk about a lot of other things when you play sport – achievement, stats, numbers. But when you look back it’s the memories you create. The love, appreciation and backing I’ve received has been amazing. I try to give the team a blazing start, but if wickets fall you have to assess. Wasn’t the usual flat pitch. Disappointed I couldn’t finish the game. Was in the slot but sliced it to deep point. They know I play the cover drive well, so they’re not going to allow me to hit gaps. You have to come up with a game plan here and there,” said Kohli.
King Slays Haters both with Bat and Mic
It is safe to say that this is not the end. It just the starting of something new. And King Kohli still has a lot to deliver. It is hard to imagine of the Indian team with Kohli and the the ICC T20 World Cup will surely see Kohli in it’s mixes. And if he continues to produce such match winning performances, he along with Rohit Sharma would be the first name to be added in the India squad for World Cup.
“Just to feel normal for two months – for me, my family – it was a surreal experience. Couldn’t have been more grateful to God for the opportunity to spend time with the family. It’s an amazing experience to just be another person on the road and not be recognised. That’s the promise I can give here – I’ll keep turning up and keep trying me best,” Kohli concluded.
