Royal Challengers Bengaluru star Virat Kohli has been with the RCB franchise right since IPL’s inception in 2008. The batter has seen IPL grow to one of the most watched events in the world. He has been a constant presence for RCB, and has seen the Chinnaswamy Stadium grow right since the IPL’s onset.
On Saturday, in a glimpse from a podcast by RCB, Kohli was asked about the changes he has seen of Chinnaswamy Stadium from 2008 to current day. Kohli talked about the changes that have happened in the stadium as well as the fan experience that has changed drastically in the years.
“It has changed a lot. Just in terms of how things were set up initially, just the level of how the organisation happens in an IPL game now is chalk and cheese. Initially, it was a case of people coming to watch IPL. But the interaction or the experience of coming to Chinnaswamy to watch an IPL game wasn’t as enhanced back in the day as it is today,” Kohli said.

“In terms of the stadium too, the outfield was re-laid, the pitch was re-laid. So many changes have happened. If you just look at Chinnaswamy back in the day to now, there’s a stark difference just in the way it looks as well. The experience of the fans is also very different,” he added.
