Australia have suffered a major blow ahead of their crucial encounter against England in the ongoing Cricket World Cup. Star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell will miss AUS vs ENG on November 4 after suffering a concussion in a freak golf cart accident.
The all-rounder will undergo concussion protocols for six to eight days.
According to reports, Maxwell slipped and fell off the back of the golf cart and suffered a head injury. The news is a major blow for 5-time World Champions who have started to find the groove in the ongoing tournament.
Maxwell have been in a blistering form in the last few games. The all-rounder smashed a 44-ball 106 against the Netherlands last week, and scored 24-ball 41 in the game against New Zealand in previous encounter.
Notably, this is not the first time Glenn Maxwell have been a victim of a freak accident. Last year, the 35-year-old broke his leg after pretending to chase his friend at a birthday party.
With Maxwell out, Marcus Stoinis is set to keep his spot for the crucial clash against arch-rivals England.
Having won four in six matches, Australia are placed fifth on the points table. Meanwhile, England are languishing at the bottom of the points table, having lost five out of six games.
Australia will face England on November 4 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
