Sri Lanka tour of Zimbabwe: The Sri Lanka cricket board (SLC) has lifted the one-year ban from international matches imposed on Danushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Mendis and Niroshan Dickwella.
The trio were suspended in July last year after they breached the team’s bio-bubble protocols during the tour of England. A video posted on social media showed the players were outside their designated team hotel in Durham.

“However, the lifted suspension will remain suspended for a period of two years, during which the three players’ conduct will be closely monitored by the SLC.”
Sri Lanka are due to host Zimbabwe in three one-day internationals from Jan. 16-21.

Danushka Gunathilaka retires from Test- Meanwhile, ahead of return to competitive cricket, Danushka Gunathilaka decided to call time on his Test career. As per a report from NewsWire, Danushka Gunathilaka, 30, has sent a letter to the Sri Lanka Cricket, informing them about his retirement. Gunathilaka played 8 Tests for Sri Lanka scoring 299 runs at an average of 18.68 and a wicket.
“It has always been an honour to play for my country and I hope to contribute to the best of my ability in the future by continuing to represent Sri Lanka whenever I am called upon to do so,” Danushka Gunathilaka said as per NewsWire.
Gunathilaka in his letter said he took the decision to focus on his fitness in limited-overs cricket. However, unlike Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Gunathilaka will continue to play cricket for Sri Lanka. With SLC lifting the suspension on him, he is available for selection for ODIs and T20Is provided he passes SLC’s mandated fitness test.
