Sri Lanka team players pulled off the ‘timed-out’ celebration after their 28-run series-winning win over Bangladesh in the third Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka T20I at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday (March 9). The Sri Lankan side celebrated by pointing their fingers on their wrists referring to Angelo Matthews’ timed-out dismissal against Bangladesh in the 2023 World Cup in India.
Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka matches have brought out exciting contests in the recent past and tensions spilled over on Saturday as well when Towhid Hridoy got into an altercation with the Sri Lanka team after his dismissal. Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam brought the incident back to the fore when he celebrated by pointing towards his wrist after dismissing Avishka Fernando in the first BAN vs SL T20I earlier in the series.
The Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka T20I series concluded on March 9 (Saturday) after the visitors clinched the series by 2-1. The first match of the series was won by SL. However, Bangladesh made a decent comeback in the series and won the second match by 8 wickets. The series decided ended up being as one-sided affair with the visitors winning the game by 28 runs.
