Sri Lanka await historic win in 3rd ODI to end 27-year wait, Gambhir on verge of 1st series defeat

Sri Lanka aim to create history with a win against India in IND vs SL 3rd ODI while Gautam Gambhir will hope that it won't be his first series defeat as coach

The Sri Lanka cricket team is on the verge of creating history after their win against India in the IND vs SL 2nd ODI. After managing to draw the firsst ODI, Sri Lanka outclassed India with a clinical performance with bat and most importantly ball. With this defeat, India are also on the verge of facing a series defeat, which will also happen to be Gautam Gambhir’s first as head coach.

Sri Lanka on verge of creating history in IND vs SL 3rd ODI

If Sri Lanka manage to defeat India in the 3rd ODI, then it will be the first time in 27 years that they have won a bilateral series against the Men in Blue. The last time they did so was in 1997.

After a hammering in the T20I series at the hands of SKY and co., Sri Lanka bounced back in an unexpected fashion in the ODI series, stunning the visitors.

India, on the other hand, will have to get things right in terms of their sloppy batting. With just a few ODIs left ahead of the Champions Trophy, it is imperative for Rohit Sharma and co. to get back to winning ways.

The hosts beat the star-studded Men in Blue team by 36 runs in the 2nd ODI in Colombo. Rohit Sharma’s team are so used to winning that this loss to a team that won just two matches at the 2023 ODI World Cup would sting. Gautam Gambhir, who’d started his tenure as India’s head coach with a 3-0 record, tasted his first defeat.
