Eye on Top 2
After their previous game against the Gujarat Titans was washed out, the Orange Army qualified for the playoffs with 15 points from 13 games. Now, if Sunrisers Hyderabad win their final group stage game, they will have 17 points and a spot in the top 2, assuming the Rajasthan Royals lose their final game as well.
With the Punjab Kings already eliminated from the playoff race, a victory or a loss will have no bearing on the outcome. The runners-up from 2014 will try to close things out well. They will look to finish one spot ahead of where they are now at no. 8. PBKS has already said goodbye to its English lineup, which included Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, and captain Sam Curran. This could make room for a few young players. Rilee Rossouw or Shashank Singh might lead the team in their final game.
Head-to-Head
There have been 22 meetings between the two teams, with Hyderabad having won 15 of them. Earlier in the season, the Orange Army triumphed over PBKS in their prior meeting.
