SRH vs MI Highlights: Sunrisers Hyderabad blast past Mumbai Indians to clinch win in high scoring thriller

Sunrisers Hyderabad blasted Mumbai Indians in their IPL 2024 clash. The hosts displayed a batting masterclass to amass the highest total ever in the history of the Indian Premier League. The visitors fought hard in the highest scoring T20 match ever, but fell short by 31 despite scoring 246 runs.

Most Sixes Hit in an IPL Game

Talk about breaking records. This exciting game had it all. Most runs in an innings by a team – Check. Most sixes in an IPL game – Check. Despite the boundaries being big at the Uppal Stadium, the two teams didn’t shy away from going the distance. SRH slammed a total of 18 sixes in their innings. In the end the game produced a total of 38 sixes.

Come Mumbai Indians, they didn’t go away without a fight. Despite falling short, Mumbai Indians did put up a decent fight. Tilak Varma hammered 6 sixes for the Blue Army. Towards the latter part of game, Tim David and Hardik Pandya lighted up the sky with some towering sixes.

Unwanted Record by Debutant Kwena Maphaka

Proteas youngster Kwena Maphaka made his debut in IPL 2024. But it will be the debut which the 17-year-old pacer would like to forget. The youngster was bludgeoned all across the park as he leaked 66 runs in his 4 over spell.

And with his bowling spell, he went on to create an unwanted record. The South African pacer leaked the most runs ever in the history of IPL by a bowler on his debut.

Most Runs in an IPL Innings

Talk about creating history. Sunrisers Hyderabad were put to bat first by Hardik Pandya and they responded in style. The hosts went on to amass the highest ever score by a team in the 17-year history of the Indian Premier League. After the end of the stipulated 20 overs, the scoreboard read 277/3 in favour of the Sunrisers.

The previous highest score ever made by a team was registered by 263/5 by Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Pune Warriors India. It was the game in which Chris Gayle unleashed a Gale-Storm to hammer an unbeaten knock of 175. And also for the first time in the history of the IPL a combined score of 500 runs was scored in a game.

Proteas Power Unleashed at Uppal

Sunrisers Hyderabad need a classy finish and Heinrich Klaasen and Aiden Markram produced the very same. The duo hammered a partnership of 116 runs from just 54 balls. Markram managed to remain unbeaten on 42 from 28 balls hitting 2 fours and a solitary sixer.

But the highlight of the show was Heinrich Klaasen. The destructive South African finisher bludgeoned an unbeaten knock of 80 runs. He managed to victimize the MI bowlers with a plethora of boundaries. Batting with a strike rate of 235, Klaasen blasted his way through by hitting 4 fours and 7 sixes.

Fastest Fifty in IPL 2024

If Travis Head smashed the fastest fifty in IPL 2024, southpaw Abhishek Sharma thought, he could do it better. In fact, the 23-year-old batter did so. The SRH batter slammed a 16 ball fifty to wreak havoc on the opposition.

Mumbai Indians were left baffled as the SRH batters continued to unleash their carnage. But most importantly, with the ICC T20 World Cup coming up, the BCCI Selection Committee will be keeping a close eye on the players. And with this heroics, Abhishek Sharma has started to make a case for himself for the National Team.

Travis Head Inflicts Deja-vu to Rohit Sharma

Everyone remembers Travis Head’s exploits in the ODI World Cup Final. Rohit Sharma had to witness the brutal assault by the Aussie southpaw opener yet again. The SRH opener who got his chance to play in the game displayed his batting prowess. He slammed a 18-ball fifty, making it the fastest fifty in IPL 2024, only for Abhishek Sharma to break it 20 balls later.

But the damage was done for Mumbai Indians. SRH got a blistering start which set the precedence for their innings. The Aussie opener was ultimately dismissed on 62 by Gerald Coetzee. Head smashed 9 fours and 3 sixes to blast his way through Mumbai Indians bowling line-up.
